Welcome to the Joy of Indie Online Market. By registering to participate, you agree to the terms set out below. These terms govern the relationship between Joy of Indie ("we", "us", "our") and participating sellers ("you", "your").

1. About the Market

The Joy of Indie Online Market is a curated promotional event showcasing independent makers, artists, designers and creative small businesses.

The Market provides a platform for discovery and promotion. Customers are directed to sellers' own websites or sales platforms to complete purchases.

Joy of Indie does not sell products on behalf of sellers and is not a party to any transaction between a seller and a customer.

2. Joining the Market

To participate, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;

  • Operate a legitimate business or creative practice;

  • Sell products that you have designed, created, produced or have the legal right to sell;

  • Provide accurate information during registration.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. We reserve the right to curate the Market and select participants according to the aims, quality standards and available capacity of the event.

3. Seller Virtual Stalls

Participants are responsible for supplying all requested information by the deadlines communicated by Joy of Indie.

This may include:

  • Business name;

  • Website or shop link;

  • Product images;

  • Business description;

  • Social media details;

  • Promotional offers.

You are responsible for ensuring all information provided is accurate, current and lawful.

4. Sales and Transactions

All purchases are made directly with participating sellers.

As a seller, you are solely responsible for:

  • Taking payment;

  • Processing orders;

  • Packaging and dispatch;

  • Customer enquiries;

  • Returns and refunds;

  • Product compliance;

  • Insurance requirements;

  • Tax obligations.

Joy of Indie does not process payments, hold customer funds, or intervene in disputes between customers and sellers.

5. Product Standards

Products featured in the Market must:

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations;

  • Meet relevant safety requirements;

  • Be accurately described;

  • Be represented honestly in images and promotional materials.

We may remove products, listings or participants where we reasonably believe they:

  • Mislead customers;

  • Infringe intellectual property rights;

  • Breach applicable law;

  • Conflict with the values or reputation of Joy of Indie.

6. Event Fees

  • Payment must be received by the specified deadline;

  • Places are only confirmed once payment has been received;

  • Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

7. Promotion and Publicity

By participating, you grant Joy of Indie a non-exclusive licence to use content you submit for the purpose of promoting:

  • The current Market;

  • Future Joy of Indie events;

  • Related marketing activity.

This may include use of:

  • Product photographs;

  • Business logos;

  • Brand names;

  • Promotional text;

  • Social media content.

You retain ownership of your intellectual property at all times.

8. Intellectual Property Rights

You warrant that any content supplied to Joy of Indie:

  • Is owned by you or used with permission;

  • Does not infringe the rights of others;

  • Does not contain unlawful or defamatory material.

You agree to indemnify Joy of Indie against claims arising from content you provide.

9. Code of Conduct

Joy of Indie aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment.

Participants are expected to interact respectfully with:

  • Customers;

  • Other sellers;

  • Event organisers;

  • Community members.

We reserve the right to remove any participant whose behaviour is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, misleading or otherwise detrimental to the event.

10. Market outcomes

While we endeavour to deliver a successful event, we cannot guarantee:

  • Website availability;

  • Traffic levels;

  • Sales outcomes;

  • Media coverage;

  • Social media reach.

We may modify event schedules, promotional activities or website content where reasonably necessary.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Joy of Indie shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of profits;

  • Loss of business opportunities;

  • Loss of data;

  • Reputational damage;

  • Customer disputes;

  • Technical interruptions;

  • Delivery failures.

Our total liability arising from participation in the Market shall not exceed the participation fee paid by the seller.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Cancellation and Force Majeure

We shall not be responsible for delays, disruptions or cancellation caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters;

  • Government restrictions;

  • Utility failures;

  • Cyber incidents;

  • Industrial disputes;

  • Public health emergencies.

Where necessary, we reserve the right to postpone, modify or cancel the Market.

13. Data and Privacy

Any personal information collected during registration or participation will be handled in accordance applicable data protection legislation.

We will only use seller information for purposes connected with administering and promoting the Market.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time.

The latest version will always be available on the Joy of Indie website. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
